Moving Beyond the Script of "Coping" toward the Art of Change

Most traditional therapy asks you to "manage" your symptoms or "cope" with your life. My approach is different. I believe that the challenges you are facing—whether it’s the weight of complex trauma, persistent anxiety, or a sense of identity that feels like a performance—are not just problems to be fixed. They are signals that the current "scripts" of your life no longer fit who you are becoming.

Who I Work With

I specialize in working with individuals who often feel "alien" in traditional clinical settings. My practice is a fit for you if:

  • You are an intellectual, academic, or creative professional who finds standard talk therapy too superficial or formulaic.
  • You are navigating complex trauma or BPD-related symptoms and are looking for a therapist who understands that "acting out" is often a creative expression of unmet needs.
  • You feel stuck in a "chameleon-like" existence, adapting to everyone else’s expectations while losing sight of your own default state.
  • You want to explore the "why" behind your patterns using a blend of clinical evidence and philosophical depth.

Addiction & Recovery

  • Recovery is more than just abstinence; it is an act of self-reclamation. As a dually-licensed clinician (LCMHC & LCAS), I specialize in helping individuals navigate the intersection of mental health and substance use. We focus on the underlying trauma and existential distress that often drive addictive behaviors, working toward a sustainable and creative mode of living.

How We Work Together: The Performance Philosophy Approach

In our sessions, we won’t just sit in a room and talk about the past. We will engage in what I call Performance Philosophy Therapy. Together, we will:

  • Analyze the "Choice Settings" of your life: Much like an actor analyzes a stage, we look at the environments and relationships where you feel most—and least—at home.
  • Deconstruct Social and Personal Scripts: We identify the inherited narratives that dictate how you "should" feel and act, and we begin the work of rewriting them.
  • Practice "Worlding": This is the process of creating a new way of being in the world that honors your history without being imprisoned by it.

Specialized Areas of Focus

  • Complex Trauma & Attachment: Moving from "anxious attachment" to a grounded sense of self.
  • Identity & Existential Inquiry: Navigating life transitions and the "big questions" of purpose and belonging.
  • Anxiety & Neurodivergence: Understanding how your unique psychic apparatus interacts with a stressful world.

Logistics & Next Steps

I offer a collaborative, dialectical environment for deep work.

  • Location: In-person sessions in Indian Trail, NC and secure Telehealth for residents across North Carolina.
  • Investment: I accept most NC insurance plans. My private pay cost is $125
  • Start the Conversation: Therapy is a performance of trust. I offer a brief initial consultation to see if our ways of thinking and working are a good match.
